As part of our Communication Unit of Work Mrs Taylor taught Year One about how Aboriginals communicate and tell stories through talking and drawing pictures. She also told us about Aboriginal tools, celebrations and traditions. It was very informative and interesting. Thank you Mrs Taylor.
On Tuesday Year One went to the school oval and ran our cross country races. All students did a fantastic job running three laps of the oval. Thank you to the parents that came out to watch and well done to the students for a great effort! Keep running!
Tuesday, 8th April - Cross Country - 10:45am
Friday, 11th April - Easter Hat Parade - 10:15am Followed by lunch with students if you would like. 1J will be walking to the beach for sandcastle building and fun at 11:25am Friday, April 11th (weather permitting of course). We hope you can join us for these events but if not, we will put lots of photos on the blog. We are very lucky in Year One to be the first ones to trial a high-tech Interactive Table in our classroom. The table has several activities for students to explore and discuss. Students have had a turn in using it for Maths and Music. We will continue trialling it for another week and then let the older students have a try.
Congratulations Katie, Eva and Dein who will received their Bronze Awards at next week's assembly. These three students have been working very hard in class to achieve fantastic results. Well done!
Last week Year One had a big experiments hour where students participated in Tasting, Smelling, Listening, Feeling and Blindfold activities to focus on using their five senses. It was lots of fun and we learnt how important all of our senses are. |
